Communion

At Reclaimed Church, we participate in the sacrament of Communion that Jesus instituted at the Last Supper. We do this each week.

For those unfamiliar with Communion (The Lord's Supper), it can be a little intimidating. So here is a short explanation of what to expect when you worship with us.

After the Message and Confession & Blessing, everyone is invited to greet one another. After a few minutes, all are invited to come up to either participate in the Lord's Supper.

If you are wanting to take Communion we ask that you can agree to some basic understandings of the sacrament:

You have been Baptized
Affirm and Confess the Apostles' Creed (a basic statement of shared belief)
Acknowledge the need for forgiveness offered in the sacrament
Acknowledge that Jesus is present in the bread and wine

If you're not ready to affirm these points, we still invite you to come up and receive a personal blessing from the pastor. Simply indicate this by crossing your arms across your chest.

LCMS Explanation of Baptism

QUESTION: What does The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod teach regarding the sacrament of Communion and who can partake in this sacrament?

ANSWER: The LCMS believes Scripture teaches the Lord's Supper is a precious gift of God in which Christ gives us His true body and blood (in a miraculous way), together with the bread and wine, for the forgiveness of our sins and the strengthening of our faith.

Because the Bible teaches that this Sacrament may also be spiritually harmful if misused, and that participation in the Lord's Supper is an act of confession of faith, the LCMS ordinarily communes only those who have been instructed in the teachings of our church and who have confessed their faith in these teachings.
